Monitoring Start an Investigation
How we work

Three ways in. One system underneath.

Commission an investigation, put monitoring on retainer, or buy a finished Brief. Every path runs on the Daypart Research OS: agents working around the clock, a human analyst in command, every claim traced to source.

The method13 STEPS · EVIDENCE-FIRST · V1.0 AUG 2026

One evidence base. Many useful views.

Every report, Brief, evidence packet, dashboard, and monitoring output begins with the same underlying research record. A different audience changes emphasis and depth. It does not create a different set of facts.

Before step 1 · Intake and triage

A client request, alert, analyst observation, or prior case is assessed before any work opens.

If accepted, Daypart opens a bounded investigation with an accountable lead and an independent reviewer.
Define
STEPS 01–02
What is being asked, and what universe could answer it.
01Frame
Define the factual questions, scope, period, geography, intended use, standards, exclusions, evidence threshold, and stopping conditions. The question must be capable of confirming, qualifying, or disproving the starting thesis.
02Map
Map the organizations, products, people in their corporate roles, claims, mechanisms, relationships, commercial flows, source universe, and comparators. Relationships are dated, so historical connections are never presented as current.
Build the record
STEPS 03–05
Collect, preserve, break apart, and take a first position.
03Gather
Collect and preserve materially relevant information through approved methods. Record the original source, acquisition context, gaps, failed searches, access limits, and evidence that contradicts the working hypothesis.
04Atomize
Break the record into discrete reviewable pieces: evidence, observations, claims, calculations, relationships, contradictions, open questions. This is what stops an inference from becoming a fact through repetition.
05First-pass confirm or falsify
Test every material claim against the gathered record and classify it before designing new tests.
Supported Contradicted Qualified Anomalous Unresolved Immaterial Not answerable
Resolve
STEPS 06–08
Open questions get a resolution path, a test, or an honest limit.
↺ 06 ⇄ 07 repeats
06Plan the deep dive
For each material open question, choose the resolution path: targeted gathering, a reproducible test, independent triangulation, a defensible upper or lower bound, or an explicit conclusion that the answer is not available to a third party.
07Test and iterate
Run focused tests, preserve the results, state the sample and denominator, and test the strongest credible alternative explanation. Repeat until the issue is resolved, narrowed, shown immaterial, or documented as unavailable.
08Final confirm or falsify
Reassess every material claim against the complete record. Build the narrowest factual explanation the evidence supports, separate observation from inference and opinion, and state contrary evidence, limitations, and remaining unknowns.
Challenge
STEPS 09–10
Nothing leaves without surviving an attack from inside the firm.
09Independent red team
Analysts who did not build the thesis challenge the evidence, methods, sample, assumptions, and language, and construct the strongest alternative explanation and likely subject response. Every claim then gets a verdict.
Retained Hardened Narrowed Softened Held Abandoned ↺ Returned to testing
10Compare and score, when appropriate
Only findings that survived independent review are compared, and only against a peer group declared early in the process. A score or ranking is issued when methodology, evidence coverage, and comparison set support it. Otherwise it is withheld or marked NOT RATED.
Release and sustain
STEPS 11–13
One canonical record, adapted per audience, versioned forever.
11Write, QA, release
Prepare the canonical investigation record, then adapt its presentation for the authorized audience without changing the underlying facts.
Evidence Citations Calculations Methodology Confidentiality Security Legal sensitivity Editorial
12Client follow-ups
Questions are answered against the released record, with limited supplemental work where appropriate. If new information changes a material finding, score, or released statement, the work returns to the relevant earlier step and a superseding version is issued.
13Complete and archive
Securely preserve the complete project record: released and superseded versions, evidence history, reproducible tests, independent challenges, unresolved questions, and the triggers for reopening. Completion closes active work. It does not erase the record.
The process runs backward too
Disproving the starting thesis is a valid outcome.
Work moves back to an earlier step whenever new evidence, a contradiction, independent review, or a client question requires more testing.

How approved consultants fit in

External specialists may contribute to a defined stage under an approved scope. Daypart reviews the work before it enters the investigation record, and retains control of synthesis, independent challenge, versioning, and release.

01 · InvestigationsDISCOVER · CONFIDENTIAL · FIXED SCOPE

A dedicated team finds what the record actually shows.

One analyst owns your matter full time, with others jumping in as the evidence demands. The question gets answered whichever way it points, and the answer arrives ready to be challenged.

01You bring the question and the clock it is on.
02Scoped proposal: method, timeline, fee. Fixed where possible.
03The analyst spins up a sealed capsule in the Daypart Research OS. Work begins immediately.
04Checkpoints on your cadence. Contradictions reported, not smoothed over.
05Delivery with the full evidence chain, then after-delivery support: questions answered, evidence walked through, updates as things move.
What you get
A dedicated analyst, full time. Concentrated on your matter only, managing agents that work 24/7/365.
The OS on your matter. Sealed capsule, automatic capture, identity resolution, provenance on every artifact.
A defensible record. Findings traced to source, hashes intact, built to survive the other side.
After-delivery support. The record stays alive as the matter moves.

A recurring intelligence job becomes an operational system.

We build and run the system: your universe of companies, your signals, your cadence, your thresholds, your review level. Agents watch continuously; an analyst decides what is material before anything reaches you. Client configurations stay private.

The wall

Client work is never published. Public research is never compromised.

Investigations and monitoring configurations are delivered privately under NDA; publication is the client's call, never ours. Public research and Briefs carry the same standard either way: every claim traced to source, dates and cutoffs stated, corrections on the record.
